Private reflection
A guided thought journal for dads
Capture a hard moment, name the thought and emotion, check common thinking patterns, and write a more balanced next thought.
The short answer
Bestead’s thought journal has quick and guided entry modes. A quick entry records an automatic thought, an emotion and its intensity, optional thinking patterns, and an optional balanced reframe. Guided mode walks through the situation, thought, emotion, optional patterns, and a final review. The goal is not to replace an uncomfortable thought with forced positivity. It is to describe the situation more accurately and choose a response that fits the facts and your values.

A practical sequence
How to use it.
Bestead is designed to give you a next step. The feature does not make the decision—or the repair—for you.
- 1
Separate event from interpretation
Write what happened, then the sentence your mind produced about it.
- 2
Name the emotional response
Choose the emotion and intensity that best fit the moment.
- 3
Write a usable reframe
Keep the facts, remove unsupported absolutes, and name one constructive action.
Data and privacy
What happens to your information.
Journal entries use the app’s SwiftData store as the local source of truth. Account sync and retention are governed by the privacy policy. Progress reports summarize counts and thinking-pattern frequencies rather than presenting full journal text as statistics.
